Christian Education
The Danville Baptist Church offers a wide variety of Christian education ministries for the entire family.
We begin with Sunday school, which is held at the 9:30 hour from mid September through early June. On Sunday morning we literally offer Sunday school for all ages, including two adult classes. One of the adult classes is for women only; which not only offers an opportunity to examine the Christian faith together, but also provides a peer support group.
On Wednesday evenings the church offers a full menu of Christian education opportunities. Our Wednesday night ministry begins with a spaghetti supper, which is served from 5:45 to 6:00. From 6:15-7:45 the church offers a children’s ministry called the DBC Bible Adventure Club for children in grades 1-5. Our Junior High Youth Group (grades 6-8) & Senior High Youth Group (grades 9-12) also meet on Wednesday nights from 6:15 to 7:45. From 6:30 to 7:45 the adults are invited to join the pastor for an adult study. The pastor has taught a Bible study on Wednesdays; he has taught the Alpha course and The 40 Days of Purpose; and he has taught a variety of courses that deal with different issues facing families today.
Vacation Bible School is also a yearly program that DBC offers during the summer. This summer (2007) 50 children enjoyed a lively week at "Avalanche Ranch!" VBS consists of drama & music, Bible stories & related crafts, games & snacks – and more. As usual we had very hot weather during VBS - which made the water games very popular! VBS is always a popular ministry, for the parents as well as for the children. The popularity of this ministry is seen in that so many children return each summer.
DBC seeks to provide a safe and secure environment for the children and youth who participate in our programs and activities. Please feel free to review our Child/Youth Protection Policy adopted in May of 2008.
